What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a type of SIM card that is built into a device, rather than being a separate physical card that can be removed. The eSIM is a re-programmable SIM that allows a device to connect to multiple mobile networks without the need for a physical SIM card swap. This technology makes it possible for users to switch between different mobile network operators and services remotely, without having to physically change the SIM card.
An eSIM is typically activated using a QR code or through an operator’s mobile app, which allows the user to remotely provision the device with the necessary credentials to access the mobile network. This eliminates the need for a physical SIM card, making it possible for devices to be smaller, more compact, and more secure.
The use of eSIMs is becoming increasingly popular in the IoT (Internet of Things) space, where the need for a flexible, remote management of connected devices is becoming more important. Additionally, eSIMs are being adopted in the smartphone market, particularly in newer models of smartphones, where they offer additional benefits such as reduced device size, improved security, and greater flexibility in terms of network management.

Why use an eSIM?
eSIM (Embedded SIM) provides several advantages over physical SIM cards:
No Pickup and No Delivery: You can get eSIM to use instantly by email without visiting a pickup points or receiving parcel.
Flexibility: eSIM can be remotely programmed and updated, making it possible to switch between different mobile networks without the need for a physical SIM swap.
Convenience: As eSIM is embedded in the device, it is less prone to damage or loss compared to a physical SIM.
Size: eSIM eliminates the need for a physical SIM card slot in the device, freeing up space for other components and making the device smaller and more compact.
Multiple profiles: An eSIM can support multiple profiles, allowing a single device to be used with multiple mobile networks.
Global roaming: eSIM enables global roaming by allowing the device to access local mobile networks in different countries without the need for a physical SIM swap.
Overall, eSIM offers several advantages over physical SIM cards, making it a more convenient and flexible solution for mobile connectivity.
